Coinle legal

Privacy policy

Effective and last updated: 27 August 2026

This policy explains how Coinle processes personal information when you use the Coinle website or Discord Activity. Coinle is a private, non-commercial game operated for one Discord server. The Coinle application owner and administrator of that server (the Coinle operator) is the controller of the limited personal information described below.

Information Coinle processes

Coinle does not ask for your real name, email address, password, payment details, precise location or Numista account information.

How and why the information is used

Coinle uses the information only to:

For users in the UK or EEA, this processing is based on the Coinle operator's legitimate interests in providing a requested private game, limiting it to the intended community, and protecting the service. These uses are narrow, expected in a Discord Activity and do not involve advertising or behavioural profiling.

Storage, cookies and retention

Your browser's local storage keeps downloaded puzzles, completed results (including submitted fields and feedback tiles) and completed dates. In Discord, those local records are separated by Discord user ID. Clearing Coinle site data removes the copy held on that device.

For authenticated daily and past-daily play, Coinle also stores a minimal server-side result in Neon Postgres: Discord user ID, username, display name, avatar reference, Discord server ID, challenge pool and date, score, difficulty, result grid and completion time, submitted guesses and the answer snapshot needed for the player's private status card. These records support cross-device completion history, group summaries and streaks. They are kept while Coinle provides those features, unless the operator deletes them earlier or a valid deletion request applies.

Coinle stores each dated British and World puzzle in Neon after it is first generated so that every player and later calendar visit receives the same challenge without a new Numista request. Puzzle records contain coin catalogue data, credited image details, reveal settings, pool, date and puzzle edition, but no Discord identity or guesses. The oldest puzzle records may be removed after the configured puzzle-cache limit is reached; result records are retained separately.

Restricted administrative actions are recorded with the administrator's Discord ID, the affected server or puzzle, the kind of correction and its time. Score audit entries contain score fields but do not duplicate players' submitted free-text guesses.

Coinle also stores the Discord server, result date, channel and message identifiers for each daily results announcement. This prevents concurrent Play interactions from posting the same previous-day leaderboard more than once. Interaction tokens are not stored in the database.

Discord profiles, access tokens and server lists are not placed in local storage. Unfinished guesses and the current round are held only in the active Activity or browser session; guesses are stored locally only when a completed result is saved for reopening. Authentication responses are marked not to be cached. Public coin-puzzle responses may be cached by Vercel by coin pool and date; those shared responses contain no Discord identity or guesses.

Coinle does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Vercel may retain ordinary request and security logs for the periods needed to provide and protect its hosting service. The Coinle operator does not create a separate archive of those logs.

Sharing and service providers

Coinle does not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects. Information may be disclosed if required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or protect users, the service or others.

Result sharing

Coinle creates a spoiler-free result graphic containing coloured grids, player display names, scores and applicable server leaders. It opens Discord's native sharing dialog, or copies or downloads the graphic on the standalone website, only after you select the sharing button. Coinle does not post it automatically. You choose whether and where to send it, and the destination's privacy rules then apply.

Separately, launching Coinle from Discord creates an application-authored channel message showing the current British and World daily leaders. Coinle may update that same message automatically as authenticated server results are completed. It contains display names, scores and spoiler-free result grids, but not free-text guesses or coin answers.

International processing

Discord, Vercel and Neon operate internationally, so technical, Discord and gameplay information may be processed outside the UK or EEA. Those providers are responsible for the safeguards described in their respective privacy notices.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information, or to object to processing. You can clear Coinle's site data to erase local records, ask the operator to delete the server-side record associated with your Discord ID, stop active processing by closing the Activity, and revoke Coinle in Discord's authorised app settings.

To make a privacy request, contact the Coinle operator by direct message through the Discord server in which Coinle is installed. Do not post sensitive information in a public channel. UK users may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Children

Coinle is not directed to children below the minimum age for a Discord account in their country. The operator does not knowingly collect information from anyone who is not permitted to use Discord.

Security

Coinle uses HTTPS, keeps Discord, Numista and database credentials on the server, validates Discord membership before accepting group results, restricts image proxying to approved sources and limits shared result records to the information described above. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when Coinle's functionality or providers change. The current version and revision date will remain available at this URL. Questions, concerns and data requests should be sent privately to the Coinle operator through the Discord server where the Activity is installed.
